Adventuring in Costa Rica
I tried two new adventure activities while in Costa Rica: bungee jumping and canyoning!
Here I am back-flipping during the canyoning tour: Gravity Falls Backflip Video
And rappelling down a waterfall near La Fortuna. From top to bottom, was 43 meters (140 feet).
And after the canyoning tour…beers and fruit! One of our guides is in front. He offers off-roading/camping/canyoning/pretty much any adventure activity you could imagine in Costa Rica!
Bungee jumping had been on my to do list for awhile….and I finally did it! Will try to upload video footage of the jump once I have better wifi. You can see photos of the jump here. The platform was tiny, and suspended over a river 143 meters (470 feet) in the air…the highest in Central America. It was so nerve-racking to dive off the platform. Once you jump, the drop was 90 meter/295 feet. Eek! There were two other people when I did it. One lady was so terrified, she was shaking and crying. But she did it (with a push from the guide at her request!)
I also did whitewater rafting on the Rio Pacuare. So many beautiful canyons, class IV rapids, and waterfalls along the way. Will upload video later….
Costa Rica is amazingly beautiful and has so much biodiversity. The country was a pioneer in eco-tourism and as a result, much of the land here is protected and preserved (about 25% is part of a national park).
Next stop…Panama. My last country in Central America…then on to South America for this girl 🙂
